Evaluation Group - Asset Accounting

Dear All

While creatinig an Asset Master Record, in the Allocations Tab, there is EvaluationGroup1 ,

.........Evaluation Group 5 fields.

Can anyone explain me with an example.

Hi,

Evaluation groups are majorly used for asset reporting purpose.

These are part of master record. So you can maintain master data information in this field to identify an asset in asset accounting module.

In our company we are using evaluation group field as sub asset class.

Ex: For Asset Class Computers Hardware.this asset class will cover so many things like desktop computers, laptop computers, servers, etc.

If you want a report for asset balances in this asset class, it will give total balance of the asset class. So in this case if you create one evaluation group for each item (desktops, laptops), you that you can get the balances for that particular item.

Create one sort variant with evaluation group field ORD41/ORD42/ORD43/ORD43/GDLGRP. (TCODE-S_ALR_87009120 - Define Sort Variants)

use this sort variant while u are running asset balances report (S_ALR_87011964 - Asset Balances by Asset Class)

so that you will get balances for each type of asset within one particular asset class. (Create output layout according to your requirement for asset balances report)

Anyway we are using this field as a category of asset under each asset class. according to your requirement you can use this field for other purpose to identify in asset accounting.

Evaluation groups are majorily used for asset reporting.

These are part of master record. So, in case if you don't have a field to enter any master data information, you can use these evaluation groups.

A Practical Example:

In ECC 6.0, there is a new org unit called SEGMENT. In asset master, you can key in cost center, but no place for segment.

Suppose, if the client wants asset reports based on segment, it is not possible.

So create an evaluation group as Segment. This will become part of master record. In any asset reports, in the dynamic selection, you will be having segment now.

Technical Details

When you change the description of the evaluation group, an Workbench Transport request is created and when a new Evaluation group is created, it is a Customizing TR.

Hi,

Evaluation Groups can be freely defined in SAP customizing.

For Example : if you have made one asset class Electrical Equipments(assuming your rate of dep on both is same) and you further want to identify..the factory electric and office electric equipments separately then you can use Evaluation Group just to tag the asset as office and factory whenever you create an asset.

Another example would be if you have certain asset lying with Employees and you just want to track it as to what all assets are lying with Employees then you can create on evaluation group saying Employees and wherever an asset is lying with the employee then select evalaution group in that else.. leave blank.

Hi,

This evaluation group field used for reporting pupose.You can use the location of the asset, area,category,etc,which you want. it is only for information purpose.

Hi,it's "customer" field. You can upload there for ex tax category...

You can customize it IMG-FI-AA-Master Data-User Fields
