Hi Leticia,
Here's are some things you can do with Broadcaster...
1. Broadcast a workbook from BEx Analyzer (must have Precalc Server set up for this). You cannot Broadcast in .pdf format from an Excel workbook. There will be no option in Broadcaster for that.
2. Broadcast a .pdf from Report Designer where your Excel query needs to be highly formatted. Create the Enterprise (RD) report first from your query, then you can Broadcast from there.
3. Broadcast a .pdf from Query Designer. Open the query and create a Broadcast Setting from the query itself and select .pdf as the format. The only difference between this and #2 above is that the .pdf won't be so nicely formatted as the Report Designer version of the query. However, you don't have to go to the trouble of creating the Enterprise (RD) version of the report using this option.
4. Broadcast a .pdf from a Web Template. You could publish the query to the Web and then create the Broadcast setting from the Web Template and select .pdf as the format.
5. Also Broadcast in other formats (i.e. Excel (XML), Portal, etc.) from Query Designer, etc.
The best looking (nicest format) .pdf would be Broadcast from a Report Designer version of the Query. The nicest Excel version would be from a Workbook within BEx Analyzer (where it would be Broadcast exactly the way it looks in BEx). But, per my comments above, you have other options. These of course are not every option but only pertain to your question about Broadcasting as a .pdf.
Hope this helps!
Hi,
you can user broadcaster to export your exce workbook result as PDF to user's email ids. Just schedule your workbook to execute at predefined times and it will execute the workbook automatically and convert the result into PDF and send email to users. You have to just select PDF in the output format drop down box.
Hope this help.

Hi,
Please tell us how you do this because I've been using Broadcaster for a while and have never been able to find an output format option of .pdf when attempting to Broadcast the workbook itself. It will work for broadcasting a query from Query Designer or an Enterprise Report from Report Designer or even a web template, but our version of Broadcaster here shows no .pdf option for distributing Workbooks. This would be helpful to know, if you know a trick for this.
Thanks!
Thanks. Have you actually been able to use this combination of Workbook Object type and PDF output format? Our 7.0 version of Broadcaster does not offer PDF as an output format when Workbook is the object type. It's only offered for a Query, Report, or Web Template, but is not an available output option for a workbook. The only output formats offered for Workbooks are "Ms Excel Workbook" and "Online Link to Current Data". It would be helpful to know if you found a way around this.
Hi Leticia,
From our experiences with 7.0 Broadcaster and from the online help below which confirms the output option selections for Workbooks, you can only distribute a Query, a Report, or a Web Template as a PDF. You cannot distribute a Workbook as a PDF. We're using Report Designer to distribute our PDF's.

Hi Claire,
I'm currently having the same request from users, may I know have you resolved your user's request? Broadcast the workbook in pdf format using Information Broadcaster? If yes, please help to provide you precious advise. Really appreciate your help.
Thank you.
