partner determination

Hi Guru,

I have one confusion that in partner determiantion we assign partner function to account group and we again assign to account group with partner determination procedure...as we know that in partner determination first system will identify partner determination procedure accordind to account group which we put while we create CMR than system can find all the necessary partner function by partner det procedure as we assign these on PDP so what is the logic behind assigning partner functions with accounting group again.

so in brief my doubt is that---

1. why we assign account group with both PDP and partnerfunctions while we can get partner function by the link like a/c grp --> PDP ---> PF (with skiping PF- A/C grp assignment step).

2. both account group are same or different which we assign with PDP and PF for example we assign a/c grp 0001 with PDP and PF both.

Please give me the some practical example in detail so that i can understand it properly i have gone through SAP LIBRARY but could not understand . Please guys help me to understand it....thanks in advance.

Hi ,

The following link should be helpful for your query.

The PDP is assigned with Partner Functions so that we know what all functional role the customer is going to play, whereas the when we assign the PDP to Account Group the system identifies the type of role the customer is i.e. whether it is Sold to party or Ship to Party.

i.e. you can create a Sales Order if there are no Partner functions assigned to PDP but you cannot create a Sales Order if you have not assigned PDP to account group. Because the system cannot restrict the Customer code entry in Sold to Party or Ship to Party as it cannot differentiate between both.

Karthik.

Hi

In the Partner determination Procedure for Customer master, you specify which "Partner functions " will be used .

You can have a number of Partner functions in the Procedure, but the Partner functions must have been permitted by the Account group to which you assign the Procedure ,otherwise when you create a Customer master data using this account group, you can not enter those Partner functions.

So, required Partner functions must have been assigned to the Account group also .
