Material Availability Check for Expiration Acknowledgement

Dear PP Gurus

Currently we have a new requirement from our client,

The scenario is as follows:

Add functionality to the availability check that will enable it to consider

material batches that expire before the planned/process order finish date

to be excluded as available for those orders.

For Example: Material ABC has batch 123 with an expiration of 31-May-2009

(5 each on hand) and batch 456 with an expiration of 31-July-2009 (3

each on hand). Order number 200xxxx is scheduled to finish on

05-June-2009 and has material ABC on its material list for a quantity

of 5 each. When material availability for order 200xxxx is checked,

we would like for the system to indicate that there is a material

shortage of 2 each. In this situation, this is because batch 123

will expire before the 05-June-2009 finish date and batch 456 does

not have a sufficient quantity (3 each) to meet the full requirement

of 5 each for order 200xxxx.

I request you to let me know if there is any SAP OSS message that can be applied which can fulfill the requirement or if there is any user exit / enhancement that can be considered for this?

Is there any other option available to cover this scenario.

Thanks & Regards,

The material expiration date is not taken into account during material availabilty check. For this functionality, user exit is used to exclude the expired batches during availability check.
