sap portal Application cannot be started.

Hi Friends,

i have started to deploy patch on portal 7.0 via SDM, but unfortunately it throught some error message that portal not coming automatically.

after i manually started the portal, Java Web application got started.

but http://<hostname>:<port>/irj/portal not opening

throwing some dump error :

*Application cannot be started.

Details: com.sap.engine.services.deploy.container.ExceptionInfo: Application sap.com/irj cannot be started. Reason: it has hard reference to resource com.sap.portal.prt.sapj2ee with type service, which is not active on the server. *

please assist me ASAP.

Hello Udhaya,

Please check in the visual admin if the com.sap.portal.prt.sapj2ee exists and started.

If it exist and not started, start it.

If it doesn't exist please check the deployment logs (sdm logs) why it wasn't deployed, it could be that you haven't deployed the EPBC2 SCA, or there was an exception during the deployment of com.sap.portal.prt.sapj2ee. if there is an exception please post it.

If you are upgrading to SP17 there is a known issue see note:1270669.

this is problem got resolved, i have re deployed all the patches from the scratch.

now it worked. thanks for your reply.
