I've followed the steps explained in installations.html to the letter, but unfortunately the installation was unsuccesful. The logs showed a bunch of java exceptions that didn't make sense to me. So i decided to try again. And this is where the real problems began.
This is what the installation explains:
Error handling
If your installation terminates before it is successfully completed, please remove the installed files and restart the Installer. In some cases it is necessary to remove existing registry entries by executing the registry clean tool (RegistryClean.cmd) before starting the installer again. If the problem persists, check the Trials & Previews discussion forum on sdn.
please remove the installed files : I choose not to change the prefered path (C:\SAP), so i completely removed that folder and restarted the installer. This didn't work because it still detects an installation
In some cases it is necessary to remove existing registry entries by executing the registry clean tool : So, i did this step as well. I even rebooted my computer several times, but it still complains about an installation it detects.
If the problem persists, check the Trials & Previews discussion forum on sdn. : so, that's where i am now....
I also notice there is a folder c:\sapdb on my computer. I never asked it to create that, so i'm wandering where it comes from... Funny thing is: it's read only. When i access the properties and uncheck the read-only property it just switches back on the next time i check it (or try to rename/delete it).
Any suggestions?
(btw, i was stupid enough to delete the log files when i removed C:\SAP...so i dont have the exact error any more)
