SAP CAR HANA prechecks

Hello All,

Can anyone Please provide me the guidelines for pre checks that need to be performed while installing SAPCAR on HANA DB

Hello Soumyajit,

When installing CAR, there are couple of approaches. Are you trying to install CAR standalone on HANA DB or in a same box with IS-Retail where same HANA DB will be shared by IS-Retail as well as CAR. This is called Co-Deployed.

You can refer the below blog by Robert.

https://blogs.sap.com/2017/05/03/sap-customer-activity-repository-car-installation-and-setup/comment...

Also can see the installation guide for CAR 2 FP3 from help.sap (Refer Section 3 of Prerequisite)

https://help.sap.com/http.svc/rc/eb1a10ffce1d4db6bdd9d1c1a5a6ef35/1.0.4/en-US/Installation_Guide,_SA...

Hope it will help you.

Thanks Shraman !

there are two movements that we are focusing on

1) outbound to car --> i have created the connectivity and the data is getting replicated in S4 retail system through IDOC .

2) inbound to CAR --> we have set up the SLT connectivity following the CAR installation guide . but we are unable to see any replication in the LTRC tcode in the SLT server . the connection is in active status but this is also showing no data replication . i just want to know how to start the data replication ? do i need to push some initial data from S4 system through DRFOUT to DDF repository ? or while posting the data in the pos workbench the connectivity will start working automatically?

and how to verify the SLT connectivity ?

Hello Soumyajit,

Seems for point 1 i.e. Outbound to CAR: you do not have any query. It's okey then.

For point 2 i.e. Inbound to CAR: See the below reply ==>

Do you have CAR in separate box (Standalone) or co-deployed with S4 IS-Retail ?

If I consider that CAR is in Standalone then how you configured the SLT that is also important.

In LTRC configuration there will be Source & Destination system connection detail. You can select RFC destination for source system & HANA DB connection for Target system. From LTRC, you have to do Data Provisioning where there are below options:

1. Create Table/ DB View

2. Start Load

3. Start Replication.

Now based on your requirement you can create Tables which are required to be created & replicated as per your installed version.

If your S4 version is S4 1610 (In Retail source system) then you have to follow OSS note 2473932 for creation of mentioned tables.

After creation, you have to load & replicate those tables in Target system's HANA DATABASE.

Note: Those replicated tables you can't find from your Application server i.e. login through GUI. You can find them from HANA Studio as those will be created in HANA Database. If you want to access those tables from Application layer then I think you have to have HANA Content installed. This HANA contents are some VIEWS (VDM) by which you can access all replicated tables.

To verify SLT connectivity, you can check T-code DBCO. This you can verify from your BASIS as well.

Regarding DRFOUT: You can see the below link.

https://help.sap.com/viewer/e95c8443f589486bbfec99331049704a/2.0.2/en-US/6c7c2c538c2f6757e10000000a4...

Hope above will help.

Shraman

Does this help ?

Hi Amaury,

till now i say no!

basically i have not yet received any specific information regarding this .

i am having doubts on

1) how to start replication using SLT (like till now we are triggering something form system A this goes in IDOC format and we can see that IDOC in the receiving system thus we can say yes connection working fine , but how to verfiy this SLT connection ?)

2) whether this is necessary to configure DRFout to initiate the data transfer (and start replication using SLT).

3) how the data gets loaded from staging table ? i came across one report that says run this report this will load the production table from staging table ? but what is that production table(name ?)?

and while running this report /DMF/PROCESS_STAGING_TABLES, this says background job started ! and load is complete , how to check that .

too many issues 😞

Good afternoon SOUMYAJIT CHAKRABORTY,

indeed, lots of questions ... isn't there a BC Admin and a technical analyst in your company to support your need ?

Initially, you've asked for prechecks ... they are in the document I've suggested.

However, it seem's your question is a bit different.

You should wrote all your questions, organise them by domain an priority and order in information process.

1) Related to SLT, I've found that :

- SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server Usage Guide

- SAP HANA – SLT Configuration (it seems enough to understand)

- SAP Note 1971030 - SLT - How to Check Source System Status is a useful step by step How-To
2) It seems this is a choice in order to replicate Master Data. However, it's not enough, according to the note in the documentation.

SAP Assortment Planning for Retail uses master data, such as product, location, and product hierarchy, that is replicated from SAP ERP to DDF using DRFOUT.

SAP Assortment Planning for Retail only works with imported product hierarchies of type article hierarchy, maintained in the the source master data system (SAP ERP). When configuring the import of product hierarchies, you must ensure to import article hierarchies.

Note : Not all of the master data is replicated into DDF using the DRFOUT framework. Some data must be replicated separately using SLT replication, as described in Replicate SAP ERP Tables for SAP Assortment Planning for Retail.

You have to replicate some data using SLT and .

3) I do not understand ... it seems to be a bit messy for now. Try to wrote the process and apply problem solving method step by step in order to explain a bit more clearly, please.

In order to check replication, read the results of report execution. You can also check number of entries in source and target.

What is exactly the scope of demand, which master data ?

Hi amaury,

Great ! These documents are really helpful .

Thanks a lot
