Hello,
How do you modify the priority of a UWL generated XML file? Ths xml file was generated when I registered the SRM system in UWL.
I tried using the tab, Universal Worklist Configuration -> Upload new Configuration but it gives an exception "Operation not allowed".
The reason for doing this,
Conflicting ItemTypes are defined in the SRM XML file and one of the pre-defined SAP XML file (uwl_erp2005_buyer), and the SRM XML file has a priority of "Low" compared to medium priority for the erp xml. I need to change the SRM XML priority to "HIGH".
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you, John
Yes, you can keep the old file. Even if you re-register, the default priority is always 50. Actually, the best approach is to delete all tasks that you are not going to customize from the custom xml. So, that when you re-register, the new changes will not be overriden by the custom xml. It will be easier to maintain.

Hi John,
It is ok if you have two config files for the same object. That is the purpose of the priority. If two work items exists in multiple config, the one with higher priority will be used. It works like inheritance wherein you can override some behavior.

Thanks Erwin,
So I can keep the old XML file as it, but with a lower priority. Do you think I will run into issues if I delete the file itself?
What happens when I have to re-register the SRM system in case there are some changes in SRM backend workflow?
I am not familiar with UWL, so just want to make sure I am doing this correctly.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi John,
You cannot upload with the same name because name should be unique.

Erwin,
It's strange that I can not upload the new file with the same name. The interface asks me whether to overwrite the existing file or not.
Now if I upload the xml file with a new name, what happens to the old xml file for SRM? Is it still activated? In that case, I will have two config files for the same system object and I guess that will create issues fo UWL Items.
How do you mitigate this issue? How does UWL know which configuration file to pick for displaying SRM Work items?
Thanks, John Miller
Hi John,
You can download the XML file, change some of the content and upload it with different name and higher priority. If the same entries are found in multiple XML's, the one inside the higher priority will be used.

Erwin,
Thanks for your reply.
I downloaded the xml file, modifed some content. While uploading with the same name, making it a high priority and selecting the required system from the dropdown, "Adapt to System", it gives the following error
Wed Apr 08 15:50:47 CDT 2009 : Operation not allowed on UWL generated Configuration:uwl.webflow.SAP_SRM_IAC
Any reason the system does not allow doing this?
