Impact of changing Fiscal period to Calendar Month on BW side

Hi BW Gurus

Can anyone please help me shedding some light that what kind of impact we can have on BW side if we change our reporting from fiscal period to calendar month.

I need to do impact analysis that shows :

1. Impact on reporting side

2. Impact on data loads

Any helpful information will be really appreciated.

I am not sure whether you are changing all the reports or some specific report,

You have to first check the underlying Info providers whether it contains cal month or not. If not then you have to map it with some date, month based on your business requirement for particular reporting area. Once it is mapped, you have to load the data again to that info-provider to have the data in new fields.

At reporting side, you have to check whether fiscal year info object is used in certain calculations i.e formula, variables, RKF etc. At all places you have to replace it with cal month. also you may need to change CMOD for variables which has been written for fiscal period to cal month.Also Check in case any custom hierarchies has been created on top of fiscal year period.

Thanks for your reply, This is helpful.

One other thing I like to ask is:

We load forecast data from APO into BW cube.

On the last day of every fiscal period we take a snapshot for our forecast data and keep it in the cube otherwise on regular days it is drop and load every day means we delete the previous request and load the new one except the last request on the last day of fiscal period. (This is business requirement) So in one year we have 12 fiscal period and we have 12 snapshots.

For that purpose we have a program running which perform this activity and keep the snapshot on the last day of every fiscal period.

Do you think if there is any impact on this if we move to calendar period.

How do you derive last date from fiscal period? I mean which FM or logic you are using.

You have to check if same logic works if you change it cal year month in test system first. since its a snapshot, it would be bit critical because if it want tested properly in test environment, it may be difficult to retrieve the snapshot again in production.

We have fiscal period calendar and that is been used in the program to determine the last day of the fiscal period.
