hello Gurus,
I want to drop a MaxDB instance, I was doing a system copy but it fail, I want to drop the instance to begin the copy again but when I try to drop the instance the MaxDB installation Manager ask me about a user and password, but the installation did not finish.
the steps followed are:
1. Open the program SDBSETUP.exe to start the Installation Manager.
2. Choose Remove MaxDB components.
3. Under Base ® Server Utilities, select the Database Kernel for the database instance that you want to delete and choose Next.
4. Keep following the instructions of the Installation Manager. Here ask me the user and password to delete the instance but I don't know wich user can use.
How I can drop the instance?
Thanks

I am trying to install SAP ABAP 7.01 on my laptap. I have the VISTA ultimate operating system. My initial effort to install the trial version SAP ABAP 7.01 failed. So I tried to uninstall the database instances NSP and MAXDB1 so that the next time I install, it will not abort because there is an existing NSP. When I try to uninstall the database, I get a window prompting for the username and password, which I do not remember. It then gives me the message user logon failed because I do not know the username and password. Hence, I can not remove NSP and MAXDB1 which means I can not continue with my installation of SAP ABAP 7.01. Can somebody help me ;<?

Hi Hernando,
why do you uninstall the software to drop a database instance?
To drop an instance you simply can use the DBMGUI or DB Studio.
Logon to the instance as the first DBM user (that would usually be CONTROL) and choose DROP INSTANCE.
You may do the same from DBMCLI.
dbmcli -d <DBSID> -u control,<control-pw> db_drop
Once this is done, you can recreate the instance and move on with your system copy.

Lars
