Hello,
Process Messages are used for creating electronic batch records and production records and for updating the process order and material stocks. They supply information on:
Status of process orders
Consumption and production of materials
Status of resources
Selected process events.
Whilst SAP has it's own PP-PI module and MES layer messages are typically received back from MES subsystems such as SimaticIT which in turn links down to the SCADA level on the production area.
In this way automatic counting/weighing/process control systems in a production area are able to feed data back to SAP in real time.
