Hi
I've been creating Crystal reports for years (from 7 up to XI) at quite a basic level.
i am intrigued to learn something new that may help my career.
My first question is this:
1. Are Business Intelligence and Business Objects different entities, if so can you sum up (in a few words) the main difference between the two.
My 2nd Question depends upon the answer to the first question, and it's this:
2. As someone who is interested in Data, knows a little about SQL server and has Crystal Reports design experience which would be the most beneficial to me to learn.
Many Thanks
Hi,
1. Are Business Intelligence and Business Objects different entities, if so can you sum up (in a few words) the main difference between the two.
Ans : Yes BI and BO are different Entities..
Business intelligence (BI) is a broad category of applications and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing, and providing access to data to help enterprise users make better business decisions
Business Objects is a OLAP Tool which is used for generating these Reports for analysis like Forcasting .
2. As someone who is interested in Data, knows a little about SQL server and has Crystal Reports design experience which would be the most beneficial to me to learn.
One ETL Tool and any One Reporting tool like Business Objects would be fine.

Prashant

Don't worry I found it
Hi Ian,
SAP BusinessObjects is a currently a trademark and corresponds to a wide product portfolio. This includes several kind of tools like ETL (Data Integrator known as BODI), Reporting Tools (Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence, Voyager), Planing, Strategy Management etc.
For more information please take a look here [http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/index.epx].
The term SAP BI refers to the entire SAP offering for Business Intelligence including also the relevant SAP BusinessObjects portfolio parts. It also includes for example the SAP BusinessWarehouse and the related BusinessExplorer Suite tools.
Starting from Crystal Reports you can check the other reporting tools like XCelisus (Dashboards), Web Intelligence (Web-based reporting tool) and Voyager (OLAP tool).

Stratos
