Hi
We would like to upgrade our GUI640 to GUI710. We are already running ECC6. What, if any, are the differences from a user's perspective between the two releases? Can anyone assist with some documentation in this regard. We would like to notify the users of any changes they can expect in their SAP screens.
Thanks
Wilhelm
There is not any changes in SAPGUI 7.10 by default. You can select the New Design but it will not change by deafult and all the screen will remain the same.

There are no real visual changes unless you change the theme but even then you do not change the functionality but only the visuals. Our users have experienced a few issues moving from 6.40 to 7.10 but they were resolved after patch 11 was applied. (Patch 12 is released and we are currently undergoing testing for our enviroment.) Version 6.40 was end of lifed in October if memory serves and support is no longer available.
There is a new "SAP Signature Design" theme which was released in a lower patch level that gives it more of a Vista look, in my opinion. There have been talks on this theme needing additional system resources when running. A picture of the new theme and information can be found [here|?rid=/webcontent/uuid/f0b33a02-8e97-2b10-18a7-8803a86e4dec] [original link is broken];.
There is also a Note for the theme and Windows.
[Note 1233328 - SAP Signature Design for SAP GUI for Windows|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1233328]
Additonal information on the GUI such as history and platforms can be found [here|]. Hope this helps.

Zecher
