How to Extend BOL/Genil Layers

Hi Gurus -

I was just working around Web UI by customizing the std screens. I was just curious on adding new fields to BOL and Genil Layer.

Have u guys worked on extending BOL layers, It will be nice if you guys post some useful docs for newbie like me to gain good knowledge on customizing Web UI.
