How to turn off Left Navigation for WPC ( Web Page Composer ) page?

We have created a portal page(template) with page property "Initial State of Navigation Panel" set to close. We are then pulling this page as a template in WPC ( Web Page Composer ) and adding content to it. But when this page shows up in the portal it come with the Left Navigation pane.

Since we are using this page for our homepage in the Portal we do not want the navigation pane to be displayed at all. Any suggestion to suppress this will be very helpfull. Thanks.

Thanks for responding Raghven. I have already tried selecting "Always Close" but unfortunately same result. I also tried playing with the "Entry point" but no success so far.

Unfortunately as of SP17 you still cannot use this option but it probably depends on how you are integrating the WPC sites into your navigation. If you use a WPC Navigation style iview then you should be able to use its configuration to collapse the navigation panel.

If (like us) you are not doing it that way because you have lots of pages / sites then you will have little choice but to implement a custom component to do this for you. You could either do it as a hidden WPC component you could add to each of your WPC pages or build it into your portal framework.

Since we have a totally custom UI / Framework for our portal we have code specifically built in to handle the left hand nav - collapse, hide, expand etc triggered by a new custom property on our WPC pages.

I created an URL iView and placed the WPC webpage link manually. The det navigation can be hidden by changing the settings in the iview properties.

However this is a the expense of extra manual maintenance and some functionality will not work properly (such as embedding other iViews)

Victor,

Can you please let me know where you added path to WPC navigation? If I add the path under URL in URL iview it does not finds it.

Here is the URL I have it on workset to display my WPC pages "wpcnavigation:///wpccontent/Sites/Company/Site Navigation/navigation.wpc" but when I add this to URL ivew it does not work.

I appreciate you responding to my posting. Thanks.

Hi SK,

I have researched this a little and would like to be able use the "official" way of publishing my WPC site (ie using external connector and wpcnavigation:///wpccontent/Sites/Company/Site Navigation/navigation.wpc) and removing the detiled navigation as it is redundant in my scenarios.

The URL to use is obtained by navigating to Web Page Composer -> web site management -> web content -> sites -> <your site> -> web pages -> <your page>

When you click on <your page> it will open a new browser window that the URL will be displayed in the address area. You need to use this in your URL iView.

Hope I have helped.

Cheers,

Vic

Vic,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have to use a short URL and just play with with NavMode to get rid of header and TLN, finally it worked.

I have granted you full point. Thank you.

For the page property 'Initial state of navigation panel' try to change Close option to 'Always Close' option from the drop down.
