How to exclude selected cost element from settlement

There is one WBS element. Cost with different cost elements are settled to it.

I need to settle all costs to Cost center except cost related to cost element ххх.

Cost related to cost element ххх is not to be settled. It will stay at WBS beacuse related to cost goods will be sold to WBS in another BE.

How I can exclude selected cost element from settlement?

Remove those cost elements from allocation structure.

Do I need to remove them explicitly?

Allocation structure is maintained in settlement profile. In Allocation structure you have source, where you have all the source cost elements, which are responsible for posting costs on WBS thru various Assignments such as Raw material, Personnel, Secondary Costs etc. You main the Cost element range or group here.So dont use the specific cost elemnt in the source.

Alternatively you can set up your settlement rule accordingly. Exclude the amount or percentage of cost from that cost elemnt in settlement rule and settlement will take place only for mentioned cost (e.g - 80% cost to be settled )

If they are not in the allocation structure, is it giving an error message when you try to settle? Where are the costs from those cost elements being settled?

Those goods related to cost element xxx are to be sold later on from that WBS element to another WBS element.

We want those cost to be settled to WBS first to be checked against budget.

In allocation structure cost element group in assigned. Cost element xxx is not in that group.

But I still got an error message KD503

Diagnosis

During settlement, the system puts the sender debits into groups (assignments), which are settled using the same settlement cost element. The settlement assignment is made in the allocation structure, which is stored in the settlement rule for the sender (under settlement parameters).

Cost element ххх cannot be assigned to a settlement cost assignment in allocation structure A3, and therefore it cannot be assigned to a settlement cost element.
