BOE XI R3.1 supported platforms (mixing 32 and 64 bit architectures)

Hi,

I am working on upgrading our XI R2 environment on windows server 2003 32 bit. to XI R3.1 on Windows Server 2008 64 bit. We are using 2 8G mem servers. Thus the desire to use 64 bit and avoid the overhead of /PAE. However, we have hundreds of printers of all descriptions and loading all the 64 bit print drivers is a daunting proposition.

So....my thought is to run the crystal report server processes on Windows Server 2008 32 bit and the Webi servers on the 64 bit server. This is not CMS clustered.

The question is, is this a supported configuration. I.e. Some parts of BOE running on a 32 bit server and other parts running on a 64 bit server.

By believe is that since all the BOE servers processes are 32 bit and everything is connected via CORBA that this should be a supported configuration.

P.S. I suspect that many other users will run into the issues related to windows 64 bit and the hassles of print drivers and might find this configuration useful.

Thanks,

Stan.

As long as the OS's appear on the 3.1 supported platforms (as the ones mentioned do) then I don't see a problem with that configuration.

As long as there are only processing servers on Win32 and win64 and not CMS servers - this should be supported.

The BO code will be the same, so I do not see any problems here.
