Define styles in wpc xsl & css

When I create content in WPC the editor displays the correct formatting. But when I open the object to preview it none of the formatting is displayed. I was told by SAP this is because

not all of the used styles are defined in wpc's xsl and css files. You can either paste formatted

text where no styles are defined, or you can define the used styles alsofor the wpc's xsl and css.

However I can't find anything telling me how to go about doing this. Do I simply add h1{font-size:18pt; color:blue;} to the general.css file in the root>etc>wpceditor>css>runtime folder or is it more complex than that? If it is this simple where can I find the currently used styles to paste them into the stylesheet.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction.
