Dear Pandits,
I am trying to create a new material type .
The reason is in HALB I want to differentiate some materials with diff. No. ranges.
In OMS2, I have defined attributes new mat. type by copying the existing HALB & when I assign the spl. material to spl. create tranasction, it is asking Group. if I give the exising HALB group, it says material group already exist and preventing me from going ahead.
Where to config the mat. group. and how do I proceed?

Hi,
Before assigning the number range for a material group, you have to insert a group which will have the number range and then you have to assign the material type to the number range group.

U can define material groups in SPRO- SAP IMG- LOGISTICS GENERAL- MATERIAL MASTER- SETTINGS FOR KEY FIELDS- DEFINE MATERIAL GROUPS.

Hi,
In t code MMNR, click on Groups, you will get the list of groups with material types assigned. Below that , you will find Not assigned list of material types, here you check your new matl type and assign to your group.
