Hi Girish

A batch is a subdivision of your stock of a material having the same characteristics.

For instance:

- food production uses batches to indicate the day of production.

- paint production uses batches based on production date and the used ingredients. It is very hard to reproduce the same color in exactly the same way at two different moments.

- ore may be divided in batches based on their mineral content.

HI Girish

The use of batches plays a central role in the monitoring and tracking of materials.

The batch where-used list fulfils the legal and technical requirements in terms of full verification of the composition and origin of materials. At the same time, certain materials also have to be accounted for right through to the consumer. Not only is this legally required for certain materials, in some cases it is also desirable.

The information required here is transferred on the delivery note and entered. The representation is not explicitly dependent on the manufacturer. A simple material bill of material is used as a basis for the input screen.

As far as ammunition is concerned, for example, it is essential that only ammunition that is safe, effective, and functional is used. This means that information must be available at any time as to which ammunition is/was used where, and where it is stored. Ammunition monitoring must ensure that changes to ammunition are recognized in time and the required measures initiated (for example, a block).

In the medical corps, it must be possible to trace medicines that require documentation (according to the Transfusion Law) right through to the patient. With other materials, the material or batch must be tracked right through to the end consumer (for example, avgas).
