Looking up application server

Hi

I am writing a file to a application server - which is then later uploaded from BI side. How can I find this file to view it? I don't see it by searching under transaction al11. Don't know if I am looking in the wrong place. I don't quite know how the application server works, or how it is setup. So I might be looking at the wrong server.
