I configured alerts..alert category, alert rule , did SCOT and it is working fime. I receive alert mail as well.
The programe "RSALERTTEST" which i guess is only for testing the alerts. But i have to execute this programe every time to get the email. I mean, when ever there is get a red flag in the moni and i have to execute this programe to get mail umlike what i expected was that the red flag in moni means an error ocured which will trigger the alert and will generate the mail automatically....but instead i have to run "RSALERTTEST" to get mail. Is this the way alerts behaviour or did i made some mistake.
Hi,
i am not sure why u have gone to ALRTTEST for creating alerts.
go to Tcode: ALRTCATDEF and create u r alert category and assign container varaibles and add alert rule in the Alert in box (RWB).

Hi Pooja,
Alert mails will not come to your outlook, if you have not mentioned the FIXED RECIPIENTS in your alert category. So enter a fixed recipients in alert category and test again.

Hi pooja,
It might be the case that tha mails sent by you are in the e-mail outbound queue.
Check transaction SOST and check the status of message. In case they are waiting you can send them manually by choosing Utilities->Start Send proceess -> Start
Or schedule a background job using transaction SCOT -> View->Jobs
and then from Jobs menu choose create and schedule a job for say every 5 min. it will push e-mail out of queue.
