Average Record Size

Hi all,

We're resizing our landscape for a new SAN. We'd like to know the average record size within the database? I was reading it's 8k but that seems too small. We're thiking more around 64kb blocks. Anyone knows what's SAP preferred method?

Thank you,

Samer

Sorry, but you are not giving us enough details to help you. Do you want to know about I/O sizes of a database? The average record size is much smaller than 8kb, but for example the oracle block size is 8kb. And oracle always reads at least one block per I/O. But you didn't mention which database you have, nor the operation system you use.

Thanks Chetan for the document, but I'm looking for a more specific answer on a SQL platform.

Any thoughts everyone?
