How to Connect from Tableau to SCP HANA

Hello,

I've a requirement where I need to connect Tableau on-prem tool to SCP tenant. Tableau should be able to access data from HANA DB available on SCP platform for it's reporting. I got a blog (link given below) where Tunnel method is getting used. But, this tunnel stays valid for 24 hours which can't be used in productive environment.

So, can I use cloud connector to connect tableau ? If yes, it would be great if you can tell what would be the procedure and if no cloud connect then what would be the procedure for this connectivity.

I could see from some blogs that in Tableau side, HANA client would need to be installed. So what else apart from that. How on-prem to cloud bridge would be made.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hi Sen,

You need to configure a service channel on the cloud connector:

then run the DB tool with the connection parameters pointing to the cloud connector, see

1. Service channel part I understood & have done as per mentioned in the link. Its basically, I'm making a connectivity to HANA DB on SCP within the CC from On-Premise to Cloud option inside CC administration.

Now, I didn't get the 2nd part - service channel creation. I don't find any option inside CC Administrator cockpit for doing the same. Where should I need to put/configure these connection string.

Also, am not clear on whether I need to put an entry for Tableau system under Cloud To On-Premise option inside CC Administrator.

If that is not required and doing using connection parameters (as you have mentioned) then, where should I do that and what would be steps actually ?

Please suggest.
