A question on creating more than 500 fields In Transparent table

Hi,

I had an requirement for creation of more than 500 fields in a customized Z table. So kindly request the experts to suggest that is it suggestible to create these fields in 1 table by taking primary and secondary indexes when considered to be in performance.

Your answer is well appreciated.

Look at the section "constraints" here:

You might run into problems with such a huge table definition. Is it possible that you're projecting data in columns that should actually be reflected in rows by introducing additional key fields?

    Hi,

you may go for an account based data model instead of your key figured data model .

Gives an example for the projection Thomas mentioned.

    Example:

    -

    key figured data model (Yours)

    field1 field2 keyfig1 keyfig2 keyfig3...
    ------------------------------------------------------
    AA BB 100 50 0.1
    ...

account based data model (defined by account_type field)

    account_type field1 field2 field_value
    --------------------------------------------
    'tkeyfig1' AA BB 100
    'tkeyfig2' AA BB 50
    'tkeyfig3' AA BB 0.1
    ...

i.e. incomestatement figures can be expressed in an account based model because of the

great number of subitems you can have. Furthermore, it's easy to extend (creating another account type and there you go...)

Search for these terms on SDN ...

    bye

    yk
