How do I get SAP B1 Webtools for Eval

Former Member

Hi,

I am a business owner and web developer who is looking to change our wholesale distribution business over to SAP B1 and it is essential that we have a strong ecommerce web presence, which integrate sfully with SAP B1, has strong B2B and also the ability to have multiple B2C running from the same system (with different products on the different sites, but from the same database).

I am not an SAP partner, so can't access any of that restricted information, can't find any detailed or techincal ecommerce documentation, can't find anywhere to download the ecommerce software for evaluation (I have SAP B1 running on my computer for evaluation, however not the ecommerce software) and most of the links I thinkn can help me don't let me get in!!!

Is there some way I can get this app to instal and see how it works with SAP B1 and how I can customise it? Are there detailed docs/specs I can get from somewhere?

Any guidance greatly appreciated, as I am just going in circles trying to get more info on this package.

Thanks in advance, Max.

Web tools is only available for demo purposes to Business One Parters, so you should contact your Business One Parter about getting a demonstration.

Hi Bryce,

Thanks for the reply.

It is a pity that SAP B1 is so hard to demo or see. SAP could make a much bigger market share if they didn't make it so difficult for their prospective customers.

I will see if one of the partners we are talking to can provide a demo version, although they seem set on providing other third party solutions.

Thanks,

Max

Hi Max,

Just confirming for you that it's possible to have multiple sites with different product catalogs running from a single database. It will require some custom code to do this, but should work quite well, with the originating site showing on an SAP Sales Order UDF (User-Defined-Field) for traceability.

Simple customizations can be accomplished via the use of CSS. More significant functionality changes are certainly possible too, but will require a developer well versed in ASP.NET and the ecommerce API (netpoint). You can see some nice examples of customized sites here: [|].

Best of luck to you!

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the reply. Are any of them yours?

While 3rd party ecommerce solutions are OK (some definitely are not) I feel better with a customised SAP version as it will probably have the most advancements, developers, integration, etc as time goes on.

Without seeing the product (apart from the front end demos) or any documentation it is hard to see the customisation structure/directories/rules or how the implementation from the backend, including the multiple stores and in the future vendors being able to manage their own inventories in my catalogue.

I've been doing ecommerce for a while on Linux servers running PHP, however not with .NET/IIS so this will be new for me, especially without documentation!!!

I'll see what I can get from the people we are already talking to. I have B1 on my system for eval purposes, however the ecommerce is not installed (perhaps because we need to stick it on an external server somewhere?).

I look forward to working with everyone here in the future if we decide to go with the SAP ecommerce offering.

Just as a side question - is there a list of all add-ons and plug-ins for the ecommerce and SAP B1 offerings somewhere? I don't tihnk I should just rely that my partner supplier will know of the existence of everything I could ever wish to implement and proactively suggest which ones would be best for my purpose? It would be preferable if we could peruse what may be available and suitable for our purposes, rather than relying on someone who doesn't know our business as well as we do.

Thanks for any further suggestions,

Max

Hi Max,

We are in the process of launching a client site that has been heavily modified to meet our clientu2019s business needs. Nothing as striking as some of the example sites yet, but very little time has been spent on design at this stage.

Your channel partners are your main point of contact, so they should at least be able to provide you with a live demonstration I would think.

There are a number of eCommerce plug-ins installed by default, and you can write your own quite easily. As for B1 add-ons, there are heaps to choose from. The Partner Solutions forum ([😉 is a great place to find what you want if youu2019re after something specific.
