Anybody NOT running transcation logging on thier BW system.

We seriously considering eliminating transaction logging on our BW system. The reasons for this is that the logs being generated are huge and even running them every 2 hours, the logs have a tendency fill up. In addition, it is not unheard of to not run logging on other data warehousing systems as these are not transaction oriented and can be rebuilt. Thoughts?

    Hello Mary,

We too have BW system running on SQL server and the logs get generated very fast, backup frequency we are doing is 30 mins

now you are talking of running without logs which I would simply disagree, how do you plan to rebuild the system, you need to have proper backups with the transaction logs for rebuilding any SAP system.

What I will suggest you is increase the size of your transaction logs directory size and increase the frequency of your backups, that will do

Let me know of any issues
