IE7 not working correctly with Portal

Hello All,

I am using IE version 7.0.6001.18000 to open the portal. But, portal is not working perfectly.

The Log Off, Personalize, Help, History etc. links are not working.

At the bottom left corner of IE, I get the message as "Error on Page" when i opened that, it shows "Object Expected".

Please suggest what should i do to make IE7 work perfectly with Portal. I cannot switch back to IE6 as I am using Windows Vista.

Regards

Hi,

This issue may be because of the new patch. We also face the similar issue while applying sp14 patch.

Hello,

I followed the same steps as mentioned. Trouble is, after creating the customized masthead iview, when i previewed it, got Exception. Do no know why.

For info, while creating the iview fron the par file, i got the option for selecing the component for which i want to make the iview.

From the list of 5 components, i chose the "default" & created the iview. IS THAT STEP IS CORRECT?

please suggest to solve the issue.

Hi,

Some times while previewing the par file will show errors. Because a lots function is disabled in preview mode... particularly links. Just add the created iview into framework page (just hide your old masthead in framework page ) and run it.

Hi,

Are you getting java runtime exception? I thought it javascript exception.

You need com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead_core.jar inside private lib folder... If you browse your downloaded par file you will get this file inside Portal-Inf/Private/Lib

Hi, It's java script Error.

Do the Following steps to remove this error:

Download the IE6SP2.reg file from the Microsoft site

and the register with registry editor.

I have solved this problem with this file.

Hi Anagha,

I was also facing this issue and updated my patch to SP10. Now the log off button is working on IE 7 , but it's taking almost a minute to kill the session completely and coming on logon page. Why this delay ?

HI,

Copy the Following in a notepad file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent]

"Version"="MSIE 6.0"

"Platform"="Windows NT 5.1"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform]

"SV1"=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector]

"IE"="6.0000"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent]

"Version"="MSIE 6.0"

"Platform"="Windows NT 5.1"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform]

"SV1"=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector]

"IE"="6.0000"

Name that file as IE6SP2 and save it as IE6SP2.reg

and then Execute it.

This should solve your problem

A question that should have been asked initially: Which version of portal are you on?

Kindly upgrade to SP10.

IE7 supported from EP7.0 SP10 onwards only.

After saving with extension .reg it will become registry file.

Then you have to execute by double clicking it.

and then restart your pc.

Similar issue I had faced.... Try this:

Check the security settings of IE... Set it to Low or Medium.

Also You can add the URL in the Trusted sites.

Go to internet options ->Security->Trusted Sites-> Sites Button and then enter the url as

http://mysapportal*

It worked for me.

Thanks

hi baby!

I am now getting the newly created masthead iview. Thanks.

But, still have not been able to log off the portal using the link. Please suggest. The post you mentioned says only to comment one line. That did not worked. Now?

Hi,

In order to make sure the modification are on right file...

Go to portal right click on masthead and view source. In this source code will you able to see the commented code?

If it is properly reflecting in source code, then the issue will be different one.

1. Are you getting javascript error onload, mean without clicking any link.

2. If click link... then which link (only after first click on logoff link)

To check which javascript object is missing... you can use alert inside function. And find the object which is missing.

hi !!

Now I am not getting any error but still the log-off is not working. I commented out the line & then deployed it. Nothing different happened. This is not only with the Log-Off but with Personalize & help link also.

Now, how to proceed?

Hi,

If you are using IP address, then use FQDN (Fully qualified domain name) to access portal. Make sure the browser setting has been set to allow active scripting.

Go to Internet Options -> Security -> Custom level -> Scripting radio button

Check if these are enabled.

1) Active Scripting

2) Allow paste operations via script

3) Scripting of Java applets

Are you not using FQDN to access the portal?

The one which you are using, is it the most recent patch for IE7?

Have you altered the default settings for the browser?
