Reporting Mode "Reference"

The system we have currently includes EHP3 but we are considering EHP4 and I wondered if anyone has experience or understanding of the BCS-related improvements.

SAP Note 1171344 mentions a new reporting mode of u201Creferenceu201D and we are trying to find out what it means and how it might be used. It would be appreciated if you would please let me know if you have any details regarding this or have any suggestions as to where I might find this.
