access to BO universe

Can you access a BO universe stored in the CMS repository with the Crystal version bundled in the .NET development environment?

If yes, do you need additional licenses in order to deploy the app to a server?

If not, which additional component do you need, if any?

Thank you for any suggestion and clarification

Hi,

In order to access any object in BOEnterprise you need to use the Enterprise SDKs and ReportEngine SDKs. You can do it using Visual Studio 2003 or 2005. For this you need to have the BOE SDKs installed in the development box. The Crystal Reports that comes with Visual Studio has got nothing to do with it.

If you are planning to use the Universe in a report then you would need a CRXIR2(sp2 and above) complete designer installed.

Hope that helps!

Thanks.

Thank you for your answer.

My problem is that I need to show some reports quickly, without the BO portal. Also without any possible manipulation from the user side (filters...), no formatting, even no drill since I could show them at the lowest level...

Just a list of reports in a web page, the user chooses one of them and gets the refresh. Maybe it looks funny that the final user wants to avoid the portal but it is what he wants at the moment.

Which is the quick way to do it? I was thinking something in .NET programming, that's why I asked for Crystal accessing the repository. Any other (and quicker) options? Any suggestion is welcome, thank you (I am thinking now to copy and paste the Sql statements from the BO reports and make a list of reports in a web page...)
