Schedule transport import to run one by one in STMS

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible in STMS to schedule transports to import one after the other and not be triggered with Import all/subset.

In case of Process Integration objects with CTS+, the transports can give conflict locks when the same changelist is in them. Import all/subset is not recommended, as the import will result in RC error because of the lock.

I need to import one by one manually. Transport 1 need to finish completely, before I can trigger transport 2, etc. But is there an automated way to do this that it can be scheduled.

I know you can trigger one by one method through script on OS level, but looking for a way to do it just in STMS.

Hi,

I guess you are not referring to the possibility to schedule the import of a single transport, because that is offered directly in the UI if you choose "import request" (see screenshot).

In that sense you could go through your queue and plan each and every transport manually...

On the one side that could be a lot of work and secondly as you don't know how long each transport takes you could end up with overlapping transports you would have liked to run in sequence...

So I think that is probably not what you want. Therefore I would ask the same question as Karin: what do you want to achieve?

Hi,

there is no option to trigger an import single via a job. What would be the trigger for starting the next import? If it is that the system should just do all import steps for one transport request and the for the next one, what is the reason for that? If transports are imported together, import steps are bundled and that should save import time.

Kind regards

Karin

Hi,

do you know SAP Note 1547414 - Export of multiple objects in using CTS+?

If you activate the auto activation property, you can import multiple transport requests that contain changelists containing the same objects.

If your system is on a release or patch higher than the ones named in the note, the solution is part of the standard delivery

Hope this helps.

Kind regards
