Completing links between tables and shortcuts

Sometimes I need to add the same table in a PDM more than once to a diagram to make it more readable. I pasted the table as a shortcut, let's say, Table1:2 (PD adds colon 2), and I moved it closer to the table it is linked to, Table2. Then I wanted to add the existing FK link between Table2 and the Table1:2 shortcut. I selected the two tables and pressed CTRL+F5 to complete links, however, PD adds the links against the Table1:1 (original table) and Table2, not between Table1:2 and Table2.

Is there a consistent way to add the link between Table1:2 and Table2?

If I drag and drop the relationship, weirdly enough, PD adds the tables in the diagram (as shortcuts) but not the link.

And one more thing, the color for the relationship link between Table1:1 and Table2 is red/burgundy while all other links are blue. I am not sure why, I don't recall changing the color of the link. Is there a legend for default colors?

Thanks

What has worked for me is to select both tables and use the shortcut CTRL+F5 to complete the links. But I've noticed that sometimes PD adds the link against the original table instead of the shortcut. To add the link between Table1:2 and Table2, I usually drag and drop the relationship. But I understand that this method didn't work for you. Regarding the color of the relationship link between Table1:1 and Table2, I'm not entirely sure why it's red/burgundy. I haven't personally experienced this before, but it's possible that the color was changed by mistake. I suggest checking the default colors legend to see if there's any information there. By the way, I found some helpful shortcuts on WallStreetOasis that have made my work in PD much easier. Have you checked it out yet?

I tried it in PD 16.6 SP06 and it works correctly. What is your PD version? You have two options. First, drag&drop one end of your relationship from Table1:1 to Table1:2. This works pretty well. Second option, select the relationship, press delete button, confirmation dialog should pop-up (if it doesn`t see next paragraph), you will choose "Delete symbols only" and after that, select Table1:2 and Table2 and press Ctrl+F5. PD should ask you, whether you want to complete links for all symbols or just selected symbols and if you choose only Selected symbols, it should work correctly too.

For turning on the deletion-confirmation dialog, go to Tools - General Options - General - Confirm object deletion.
