Do Item division exist?

Is there any division called 'Item Division' existing in SAP. This is said to be different from 'Sales Division'. I argue that it doesn't exist whereas my colleague strongly disagrees that 'Item Division' is different from Sales Division and such things exist. Can somebody clear this misunderstanding?

Hi,

Yes conceptually exists and are used in sales documents.

We know that division is an organizational unit based on responsibility for sales or profits from saleable materials or services.

You use divisions to group together materials, products, or services. The system uses the division to determine the sales areas and business areas to which a material, product, or service is assigned.

One or more divisions are allocated to the division category.

For example, a utility company might divide the division category water into drinking water and waste water.

Division in sales order item comes from the material, it indicates whether the division at the item level is proposed from the material master record of the item or whether the division you enter in the sales document header also counts for all items.

Example:

You can find a item division check box , in SD --> Sales Document (Header) Defination

Hi,

There is no entity in SAP as Division category, it just helps to group/categorize to similar divisions for the purpose of undersatnding.

Hope it helps.

Hi Mahesh,

Division Category is mapped to Division in ISU (Gas, Electricty, Water etc.,). The division categories are used to define permissibility Regsiter Relationships per Division Category..

Hope this helps..

Thanks
