scheduling

in my scenerio i am using forward scheduling with strict bottom up approach for all network.

network A

act 1 FS (1day) act 2 fs (1day) act3.

start date 23.3.2009.

act 1 starts on 23.3.2009

act2 starts on 23.03.2009 but i have given 1 day float?

act 3 starts on 24.03.2009.

All the Duration of the subsequent activities are coming correctly, but the 2nd actvity why the float is not taken of one day I cannot understand.

If i give act1 FS(2 days) to act2.

then the act 2 starts at 24.03.2009. I do not know why this is eating up one day for the second activity.

Please can anyone help me.

regards,

A S

Hi,

Can you please tell us as to what you mean by "given float of 1 day".

In the scenario explained by you, both total and free floats will be 0 days( only 3 activities and FS relationship).

or is it that you have maintained Duration as 1 day?

In that case,

Please check whether you have given "FS relationship with offset relationship by '-1 day' between activities 1 and 2 "

Regards...

Delete watever the days u have maintained in relationship overview screen, Maintain the no. of days in duration field of activity overview screen, then schedule the project.

Ohh...

You do not want to give duration.

As you have not put any duration for activities it is taking Zero as their duration. So, when you are giving 1 Day interval between activity 1 & 2, the system schedules it by considering the duration of activity 1 as 0 days. Then the interval of 1 Day (Which is 24 Hrs).

If you take a closer look at the Dates, you will see that even though the activity 2 is starting on the same day as that of activity 1, Time difference will be present.

I guess the data for activity 2 will be Same date but 24:00 Hrs instead of 00:00. and same is happening for the 3rd activity. but if you add 24 Hrs after 2nd activity it will surely go to next date. so for acti. 3, Date will be +1 day from acti. 2 and time 24:00 hrs.
