Changing Item Category when copying a Bill of Material

Hi.

Is there any way to change a item category from one item when copying a bill of material?

In other words:

I have one FERT with a Production BOM that contains 3 items with Item Category L. I want to create a BOM to another FERT (using CS01) by copying this existing BOM, but want to change Item Category of 2 items to N.

I'm trying to do that but I can not change Item Category BOM. The only way I can do this is deleting the item and including it again.

Any other way?

CS01: Individual BOM copy -

Need to delete the line item and add again - as you have already observed

No option to modify item category while copying the individual BOMs

BDC/LSMW route:

In case you are using some BDCs to copy BOMs, you can include the coding to enter the new item category while filling the line items.

Or you can download the BOM items in the text/excel templates, and replace Item categories for the respective line items before picking these values for BOM creation
