"Add Variable" in Message Mapping -> How to use?

Dear experts,

I have a found the menu entry "Add Variable" for target fields in graphical message mapping of the WebUI in SAP Cloud Platform Integration.

Does anyone one know how to use it? Is it similar to the usage of variables in the message mapping in SAP PI? If yes, how can I assign the previously assigned value to another field?

Thank you for your advice!

Hello Florian,

its same as SAP PI and usage also the same.Below are the few screenshots.

Step 1 :Creating Variables

Step 2 : Assigning variables

Hello thank you very much for your answer.

I just tried to do the same. Assigned values to the variable does work (step 1), but I cannot retrieve the value of the variable in step 2.

Is it done with a "Constant" function similar to PI? When doing so I tried to access the variable value with "variableName", "$variableName", "*variableName". Nevertheless just the hardcoded name got mapped, not the value of the variable itself?

Could you please what I am missing here?

Thank you!

Hello Florian,

The $Variable which you are speaking is from Parameterised Operation Mapping of SAP PO.In this case we dont have Operation mapping itself( From SAP CPI perspective ).You can just drag and drop ( or select a field mapping where you want to use it click the variable name then you can map it,very similar how you select source field similarly select the variable ).

Thank you very much again!

Drag and drop of the variable to an existing field mapping did work.

Really appreciate your help!

Thank you for the screenshots. Still not sure though how to assign the created variable as source field? Assigning a value after adding it to the target structure works fine.

Thank you for further clarification!

Hello Yatanveer,

Select the source field and drag drop to the newly created variable.

Hello again,

this is not what I meant.

Dragging a source field to the variable is not an issue and clear, question is how to use the use use the variable itself as source field to assign its value for other target fields.

further clarification is highly appreciated!

Hi!

Did you try to drag your variable into editing area using right mouse button?
