Hy
I have a question that bothered me before but I can't seem to find an answer.
I'm going to try and describe it as best as I can.
I was creating an infocube before and in there I put a key figure and in the already existing Time dimension I put one of my fields being calender year and calendar month. But when I want to activate this it gives an error because it says I have no characteristic. So why am I obligated to create a new dimension with an empty characteristic (because i don't need this value in there) while I have my calendar year and month and my key figure?
Kind regards
Sven Swennen
Hi Sven,
This is probably a bug. It's actually impossible to delete the dimension 1 (tested on a 740). If you try to delete it, it will be automatically recreated when activating (which will raise an error afterwards because it's empty !!).
Why wasn't it corrected by SAP ? probably because this is not so often you have to create this kind of cube (the only use case I can think of is a planning one). A DSO will probably be a better choice (no need for a snow flake model in this kind of model)..
You may try your luck and raise an OSS incident (!?!?). I'm curious to know the official answer.

Frederic

Hy Frédéric
I was thinking the same, just wanted some input on it to see if there was something I was doing wrong.
Kind regards
Sven
Hi,
I think you cannot create an infocube without a custom/user defined dimension. I mean, you have to have at lest one user defined dimension in the cube. Time dimension is not a user defined dimension, it is standard/SAP delivered dimension.
Try to create one custom dimension and put a dummy characteristic and activate the cube.

Satya.
