Some problems with product download

Upgrading from BO 6 to current product:

1) XI 3.1 is most current? If support site list is cronolgical then XI R2 is later, but 3.1 seems to have latest dates.

2) Any good reasons to go to some version other than XI 3.1?

3) Can you actually download software from the download site?

I picked all of the BO XI 3.1 Windows software and clicked "add to download" basket.

I got "processing your request, please wait..." and nothing happened for thirty minutes.

I backed out and selected a single download... same results.

4) Can you talk to someone? Going through support and help options on the support site just leads me in circles that keep returning to the "forums search".
