Restart the workflows after new version

Hello All,

We are on ECC 6.0 and have many custom workflows for Invoice, PR approval.

Recently these workflows have undergone changes and had been moved to production. There were couple of cases where we found that old workflow instances which had gone into error state cannot be restarted as this new version of workflow is different than the earlier one.

Is there any way to restart these workflows with new instance? Or is there any work around to avoid the error?

Any help would be appreciated.
