Archive Retention Periods - Per Company Code (Documentum)

Hi Colleagues,

We are implementing an SAP archiving strategy that is integrated into EMC Documentum and Centera. These external repositories and immutable storage will be used to manage the legal retention period of SAP archiving objects

We are faced with an integration question

The standard SAP object for purchase orders is MM_EKKO. This is assigned against an SAP content repository, which is then replicated into Documentum. The content server in Documentum is allocated an attribute for retention, which is used to determine how long the data needs to stay in the external storage for legal compliance reasons.

Our problem...we want to archive data with different regional retention periods

EG. Purchase Orders in USA required for 7 years, Purchase orders in UK for 6 years.

Our thoughts are that we would copy the MM_EKKO object and assign to a new content repository, which is then also replicated to Documentum. This would then allow the control of retention periods in Documentum

However, this then means that we would have to create bespoke versions of the write/delete programs because the standard ones have constants applied for the relevant object (MM_EKKO)

Whilst this is of course achievable it does seem an over complicated solution

Does anyone know any alternatives for managing organisational level archiving with specific retention periods!

Thanks

Steve
