Legacy uploading of data in DMS

Dear friends,

We have to upload 1000's of files, and making use of LSMW tool for DMS is also not appropriate. Kindly suggest what is the alternate solution. All the fiels are required to store in Content Server.

Hi,

LSMW is not suitable to upload data especialy if you are using multiple object linking, custom classification data. Use bapi+bdc to create upload prgrams in sap.

Third Party stuff may not be required here.

SAP has provided number of tools to load data.

1. By LSMW i guess u mean only the Batch Input Recording.

You may use Business object Method (BAPI) for loading data into DMS:

Business Object DRAW

Method LOAD

Message Type DOCUMENT_LOAD

Basic Type DOCUMENT_LOAD01

You'll need to define Partners n stuff for Inbound IDoc processing. A technical guy may help u do this or even u may do this.

2. Another tool you may use is Data Transfer Workbench. You may find it in Customizing.

3. Or if u have tech guy with u then you get code devloped for a simple program to load with BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2.

Cideon import PDM is one option, it automatically imports the documents and also creates a dir for all the files.
