How to Upgrade Tomcat 5.5.20 > 5.5.27?

We installed the version of Tomcat that shipped with the product (5.5.20) and are now being asked to upgrade after a security scan.

I am not sure if this is a straight forward install or if there are some precautionary steps we need to take, or if it is just recommended to not upgrade at all. I also thought the Tomcat product shipped was one stripped and configured specifically for CRS/BOE. Documentation is scarce surrounding this.

Tomcat is not customized for BO it is just packaged with our product to offer customers a free open source java app server if they do not have their own.

I do not see the steps to upgrade in our SAP notes so you will need to use the tomcat's site http://tomcat.apache.org/download-55.cgi#5.5.27
