Installation of IDES on 32bit Windows with MSSQL

Hi

I know you heard a lot of these questions, but i did not find a specific solution for my case:

My goal is to install an IDES system.

For this I need the Solution Manager Key.

The Key is generated with the Solution Manager.

The Solution Manager can be installed via:

software life-cycle options

> system copy

> ms sql server

> target system installation

> central system

> based on as abap and as java

Now I always got stuck when the installation asks me for MIGJDMP and JMIG.

Now I think I have to install the Java Add-In first.

But the Java Add-In is based on the DB instance for Java Add-In which is itself based on the SCS.

The SCS is based on a existing SAP System.

But i do not yet have a SAP system.

Is there any way I can install the IDES without installing the SAP first?

Or am I wrong in my researches?

Best regards

Marc

Solution Manager is a separate system with separate installation media. It's not in the normal DVDs for ERP.

Yeah, thats clear.

I have the DVD "SAP Solution Manager 7.0" Installation Master.

This is where i selected the above installation.

Ok.

But not select "Livecycle management" (this is for system copies) but for INSTALLATIONS. If this is Solution Manager SR3 you need a 64bit platform, you can't install SR3 release on 32bit.

Ok, you need to use not only the master installation DVD but the whole Solution Manager medias including Solution Manager (Solman) export DVD's, Java components and so.

I will strongly suggest you to download the installation Guide, there you will find all info you need including HW and SW requirements, Media, JDK version, etc.

There is one for each solution like Solman, ERP, etc and specifically for the OS/DB combo because it is not the same to install using Oracle than SQL.

To tell you how to do the Installation is not the intention of the forum but to help you with any problem you face so first you will have to do your homework carefully reading the guides and notes about this topic.

Good Luck

Hi Kestrel,

That's true you won't be able to go for SR3 in 32 bit . You need to go for 64 bit.

If you wish to have same in 32 bit you have to go for SR2 for which you can raise a ticket with SAP and request the same.

Hope it helps.

Thanks alot!

It is indeed SR3.

Is this why I can not choose "Installation" but rather only "software life-cycle options"?

Additionally: Would it help to ask SAP Support for the "solution manager key" for my Instance/System-Number?

Hi Kestrel ,

That's true that was the reason.

I think you don't while you are installing Solution Manager.

I just realized that i might be wrong:

I have SP Solution Manager 7.0.

In Note 1145779 - SAP Solution Manager 7.0 Installation I just now found the workaround to install "a SAP Solution Manager 4.0 SR3 system" and then patch it to 7.0.
