MDM 7.1 integration with XI

Is XI available in MDM 7.1 version,------i heard it

Is it that no other XI server is needed for integration,As XI is available in MDM

Hi Shifali,

Integration of PI is made easier with the MDM 7.1 version.

It not that XI/PI is completely eliminated from the Integration.Rather we have something known as the PI Adpater whcih can be used to connect MDM with PI.

So the use of FTP as a mode of trasfer between MDM and PI is eliminated.

So now from the 7.1 version onwards the Java Adapter can be used to fetch and Push data between MDM and PI>

Hi Shifali,

Please find the below information to understand the changes in MDM - PI Integration before and with MDM 7.1

Upto MDM 5.5:-

1) MDM PI integration is realized via FTP and File Network shares (File Adapter) since MDM requires a file system-based message transfer mechanism.

2) Data messages are stored in a physical file system for inbound and outbound processing.

From MDM 7.1:-

1) MDM 7.1 offers new functionality by implementing the MDM PI Adapter which enables direct communication between MDM and PI.

2) The MDM PI Adapter push/pull data into/from MDM by using the MDM Java API port functions.

3) Enables a tighter MDM PI integration as well as message monitoring.

4) The MDM PI Adapter will support SAP NetWeaver PI 7.0 / 7.1 and MDM 7.1

Hi shifali,

first make a note that MDM is C++ based system, while XI or PI is based on abap & java stack. MDM wont contain in it any XI/PI engine. What you might have heard is about software package, that SAP is now selling PI with MDM but it doesnt mean that MDM contains anything like PI functionality.
