Are your running a 32- or 64-bit version of the JDK?

      Yes it is possbile.

You can change the system environment variable "Java_HOME" to the new path / JRE.

Or start NWDS with additional parameters: i.e.

      sapide.exe "-vm C:\j2sdk1.4.2_17\jre\bin\javaw.exeu201D

    Hi,

For future search, the answer is:

depending on the release you want to use.

    Regarding 700 NWDS:

Regarding 71X see the page 3 at:

Regarding 72X see the again page 3 at:

    • Hello Erwin,

about 71X: PAM only says "Developer Workplace", but what if we just need the "Developer Studio", and use and existing NW 7.1 development server as J2EE attached to the Studio?

    Hello,

It is possible to run NW Developer Studio on a Windows 7 64 Bit.

You have to install the Microsoft Virtual PC with Win XP mode.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

Step 1: Download and Install Windows XP Mode

Step 2: Download and Install Windows Virtual PC

Step 3: Download and Installa Update Windows XP Mode

It creates a virtual PC running Windows XP.

On the XP mode virtual PC, you install the JDK and the Developer Studio as usual.

In order to run de application directly from Win 7 64bit, you need to make sure on the XP mode virtual PC that the StartMenu --> Programs --> NW DevStudio folder is under "All Users".

Check the video "How to Install an Application on Windows XP Mode" on http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/support/default.aspx

    It works great!!

    • Hi Julian,

I assume we are talking about NWDS 70X, because higher NWDS releases are fully supported on win7.

Please note that there is a difference between something is working and whether we can provide support for it.

See the official statement on this in the note:

      #1566977 - NWDS on Windows 7

      which says:

      7.00:

There are successfull installations of NWDS 7.0x running inside and outside of SAP.

Please make sure that the NWDS is running on a supported and correctly configured JDK.

Please acknowledge that while you may successfully install and run NWDS 7.0x on Windows 7 this still is not a supported OS! Running NWDS 7.0x on Windows 7 is at your own risk.

      Best Regards,

      Ervin
