What are the Basic qualification to understand the ABAP

Am a new user and also i dont have much more knowledge in systems. Am management background student. To understand the ABAP and related to sap, what are the activities need to be done. What are the basic qualifications needed to learn ABAP? How can i develop myself in systems.Thanks.
