How can we ensure that materials are delivered to Building site of the Customer

Hi PS Gurus, Our client is into a business of Interiors where material is Inhouse and Labor is external. The proposal is to use SD & PS integration.

In this scenario, from Project systems we are able to create a reservation against network. But against reservation when we do a goods issue, it posts to consumption. In this scenario how can we ensure that materials are delivered to Building site of the Customer and also let me know what settings will be required

Deliveries are the SAP objects that provide the necessary functionality.

Hi Vikram,

Material reservation is a kind of procurement for consumption within the Project. This results in Cost to the Project. But, in your case, you are not procuring it all. You already have material in-house and selling it. If you want, you can only capture revenue from selling by linking WBS element to SO item. Cost of material will not become part of Projects this case.

Assume that, you dont have material in-house. Then you do a thrid party procurement and deliver it to customer location. Because of procurement, Project incurs cost.

So, it is not appropriate to use material reservation in your case of selling.

And if the problem is about goods issue and tracking --> then MM, WM etc. will take care. PS need not indulge with that process. As part of PS, just capture the result of this exercise done by MM, WM, SD as revenue in your project.

But still How can we ensure that physical materials are delivered to Customer site when I am consuming in my project.

and also How do I inform this to my distribution center to deliver when I create only a reservation

Hi,

You can create separate storage location as Customer store transfer material from Raw material to Customer storage by 311-Q movement then issue material from that storage location . So you can track the material movement.

In the SD module you will need to use Deliveries and if you want to track/manage the deliveries you could implement Transportation Management.
