There needs a validation to be put as

If XXtype=ZZ , then the material should also be extended to "XYZ" plant.

Can this be possible.

Hi Shifali,

If I have understood your Query correctly.You want the Material extension to a new plant to take place and then Validate this in MDM.

- Material Extension to a New plant is a Process and is done in the Transactional system not within MDM.Because you need to extend the materail to a new palnta nd accordingly its differnt Views and data in those views will have to be filled and this activity will be allowed to be performed exclusively by the Extension team.

- What you can do in MDM is identify the records that needs to be extended based on the location profile code as mentioned in the above thread.Or syndicate it to the XI system from where using some logic you can decide to which plant the material needs to be extented and then the extension is performed in the ERP system.

- Once the extension is done ,the extented records can then be saved completely in MDM and then a Validation can run on those imported records to check if the Extension is done and if so its details.

I dont want the material extension to take place,i want to check whether the material is extended to new plant or not

Hi Shifali,

It is possible, Add an extra field in main table for example "location profile" and enrich this field manually or thru assignment with the logic.

Once you figure out which plant needs to be extended, XI/PI can send the MATMAS05 Idoc to specific Plant in ECC/R3.

Another alternate option is after syndication from MDM, XI/PI can have a logic to find the specific plant, depend on the logic you have provided to XI. And MATMAS05 Idoc can have respective MARC & MBEW segment and post to ECC/R3.

Hi Shifali,

in MDM you cann't extend the material to the plant automatically, rather after extending the material you can syndicate that to ECC .so the material will be extended to the plant. The syndication can be made automatic. we have done this for sales org and it's working fine.

with a validation you can assign the new plant only.

The extension of materials to various plants are done through the Extension programs in ECC which is generally handled by the Planning team. This was done in my project also where in the planning team was running some extension programs to meet the business requirement of Extending the materials.

This is out of scope of MDM. MDM will only syndicate the data to ECC using XI. From there the planning team will have to write some logic to extend the material. Your validation would be mentioned in the Extension programs.

Plant extension is possible in MDM right.

My question is i have to put a validation that ,if the record is extended for XYZ plant also.

As there can be multiple records at Location Data level,where Plant is a Non Qualified field,and here i have to put the validation.that if material is extended for XYZ plant also
