Hi Experts,
I am unable to login to the IR and ID of my XI system.
I access my XI system Via VPN connection.
I get an Authorization error even though I provide the correct user id and password.
I am able to login to the ABAP stack using the same credentials.
I have followed this blog by Shabarish but to no avail:
/people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/02/13/unable-to-open-iresrid-xipipi-71-updated-for-pi-71-support
Also checked this thread, but could not find a solution:
My Java 2 Runtime environment is on 1.4.2_17.
I have tried with 1.4.2_12 also.
Host file has the correct IP and host names.
Can someone tell me if I am missing something?
Thanks and Regards,
Ravi Kanth Talagana
Below is the error log that i get.

Hi,
This error is due to failure of UME services. If you restart the XI server or mainly the JAVA instance, hopefully everything will work fine.
In order to restart XI server:
UNIX: login to command prompt with <SID>adm user and execute the below commands:
stopsap r3
startsap r3
WINDOWS: login to command prompt with <SID>adm user and execute the below commands:
stopsap sapdiahost=<appl. servername> nr=<system number> name=<SID>
startsap sapdiahost=<appl. servername> nr=<system number> name=<SID>
In order to restart JAVA engine only:
Using jcmon: login to command prompt with <SID>adm user and execute the below commands:
jcmon pf=<instance profile>
go to restart service option and restart server process.
Using SMICM T.Code: From GUI open SMICM Tcode.
then goto Administration --> J2EE instance --> Send Soft Shutdown --> With Restart.
If you don't have the authorization to restart, please suggest your BASIS team to restart the same.
