Drawing S-curves in Project Systems....

Hi Everyone,

Are consultants in Project Systems, drawing S-Curves, depending on Weightage calculated based on the plans created in Primevera? Are Consultants in SAP PS, using the Presentation Graphic too.

Also, Is the Project Planning Board as competent as Planning tools like Primevera and Microsoft Project Office.

I have heard from many Project Planners that Primevera allows them to track schedules on each activity in within phases of projects. They say SAP does not accomodate the same level of detailed planning when compared to Primevera.

I heard that Primevera helps in the re-scheduling of projects and re-calculation of dates by adjusting the dates (schedule) {i.e., either expand and compress dates, related to activities and subsequent and precedent activities schedules appropriately. It seems they are not satisfied with SAP's project planning board when comapred to Primevera's flexibilty and higher level of detail, especially in the re-adjustement of schedules.

Can anyone, challenge and give justifications that the SAP Project Planning Board is more capable than primevera.

Hi,

While Primevera can be termed as a project management tool, SAP PS integrated with FI-CO, MM, PM, PP, SD is an elaborated ERP solution.

Thanks,

Dharmendra.

Hi,

I've heard from users many times that in terms of scheduling MS Projects or Primavera are more friendly to use than SAP PS Planning Board. In fact in my previous project the decision was to download projects created in SAP PS to MS Projects and schedule them there. The huge advantage of SAP PS is its integration with Finance.

Kind regards, Aleksandra

while a lot of functionality that can be done in Primeavra can also be done in SAP, my belief is that primavera is a project management tool as compared to SAP PS

but . . . .

there is no comparison of SAP PS when it is integrated with FICO and other modules of SAP

That is why my suggestion is to carry out detailed work in primavera, get an interface going to SAP PS whihc will then seamlessly integrate to the company ERP

Ok, If Suppose Primevera sends across Data to SAP.

What would the benefits be?

I have never done this before, but would be coming to this in the near future. I would like to know, how is this going to affect the creation of projects, using data from Primevera.

Also, I see that, Primevera has data detailed down to every minute activity a planner possibly can consider in a project, whereas SAP seems a little inflexible, and more hierarchical with activity and activity elements. SAP Planning Board seems a little less detailed a tool to plan, rather hierarchical as a fact.

Planners using Primevera, don't bother about hierarchy. All they need is to plan their activities from start to end, with a chain of predecessors and successors.

But, I still do think that SAP Planning Board has the capability only if the system is configured keeping in mind how a planner would prefer to plan his project.

Any Ideas.....

Primavera software helps, supports companies to work in a project environment. It is used exclusively for this. SAP PS is an ERP system that can support all aspects of company FI, CO, SD, MM, PP, etc, and you can use many master data from other modules in PS (integration) So in smaller project company from one country you can use Primavera it is ok, But if you have international company with many company codes, plants, stocks, project teams you will have to choose SAP. Because the most important thing in SAP PS is its strong integration with other SAP modules and flow of data from one module to other. In Primavera, this is very difficult, almost impossible according to me......
